Pocket PC as MP3 Player?

What programs would I need to use my Dell Axim X30 as an MP3 player?

Is there a preferred program that will help with looking up and playing from my MP3 library?

Thanks for the help.... I'm brand new to owning a pocket PC.

There are 3 freeware players that folks really like around here; TCPMP, Mort Player, and GS Player. Of the 3 my personal faavorite is TCPMP. Not only is it an mp3 player it also plays most video formats. TCPMP uses a simple file hierarchy to create playlists. If you can use a file explorer you can use TCPMP.

Just make sure to turn off the screenlight while playing - this will save lots of power

Another vote for TCPMP :approve:

But you could (at a push) use the built in WMP

I prefer GSplayer, then TCPMP.....both are fantastic and fully customizable.

Yes, i use PsShutXP, which allows you to map a button to screen off.

This does save a lot of power. Also, reducing the processor helps. Doing this can make your axim last all day as an mp3 player on 1 charge.

If you do use TCPMP, Unit Zer0 has compiled his "all know codecs for TCPMP" that can be found in his thread here and his latest cab compilation in the Download section here.

I wonder if Jonathan Misurda's Playlist Editor works on an X30? Using that gives you better control for creating playlists for Windows Media Player. Has anyone seen any posts covering this?

Nice suggestion - and the screen won't turn on by an accidentally touch while you're on the road

Remember: An X30 doesn't have a lock switch

TCPMP crashes, needs reinstalling

I thought so too until an mp3 of a diggnation podcast crashed 0.72RC1 on my Axim x50 and only reinstalling would let TCPMP play again.

Here's the link to the diggnation podcast. Is it because it has a CD cover larger than 100x100?

http://www.podtrac.com/pts/redirect....lack--high.mp3

WMP 10 Mobile plays this mp3 fine.

Yeah, your right. Im not mobile now, but i tried it on the desktop version of tcpmp and it crashed it. I got it to generate a crash.txt file, and ill attach it. Maybe somebody here can decode it.

What about windows media player...is anyone using that? It came on my PDA and I've listened to "books on tape" that I ripped from the library's CD. Is there a better player, cause I think this works great!
