Using Axim w/ cellphone modem

Hello all, I just joined, very glad to find this place.
I am wanting to use my Sony Ericsson W810i cellphone as a modem for my Axim x51. I think I can get the right cables but I need to know if I need a special software for the Axim. ATT has a software download to use but this only works with a laptop. Is there a special software for the Axim that facilitates modem connectivity?

Thanks in advance for this. I will probably have a hundred more questions on other issues soon so hopefully I'll just fit right in.

Christian

I don't have at&t but I connect my axims to the internet using a bluetooth tether instead of a cable. Can you pair the ax and phone? Does your phone have bluetooth dial up networking as a service?

Thanks for the reply Mako.

I don't have Bluetooth yet because my phone has internet service already bundled in, so I was hoping to use that in conjunction with my Axim to remotely access my home comp. And avoid paying extra for the Bluetooth. But...I've since found that the cables aren't compatible (it basically needs a "switch" in the middle), so I'm still trying to work that out as well.

Actually, my phone already does everything my Axim would do in this case anyway...I just prefer the larger screen on the Axim.

Any more info will be greatly appreciated though, thanks.

Never mind.
It turns out I do have Bluetooth on my phone...and after several hours of messing with everything I got it all to work.

I thought so. Glad to hear it worked out.
