I'M NEW TO THE PDA WORLD AND HAVE BOUGHT AN AXIMX51V WITH MOBILE 5.0 OS 5.1.195 (BUILD 14957.2.3.1). JUST WONDERING IF I AM UPTO DATE AS FAR AS WHAT I HAVE. I KNOW THERE IS 6.0 AND 6.1 BUT I UNDERSTAND THESE ARE JUST COMPATABLE WITH VISTA. AM I RIGHT?
ALSO,I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO USE EXCEL AND WHEN I SYNC MY FILE (SIMPLE INVENTORY SHEET AND WORK SCHEDULE FILES) A LOT OF THE FORMATING SEEMS TO BE LOST, NAMELY CONDITIONAL FORMATING WITH CELL SHADING. WHAT GIVES? THANKS FOR ANY HELP!

First off, turn off the CAPS LOCK! Thats just a pet peeve of mine.

Second off, welcome to axim/mobilitysite. You can find all the info you need here for axims.

The wm6 for the x51v was never released by dell. Dell's highest version is wm5 A12, i believe. Wm6 for the x51v was not made by dell and not supported by them.

Pocket Excel isnt as advanced as the desktop excel. But if its just basic cell formatting and stuff, it should work.

I have WM 6.1 on my x51v (and spunker88 correctly notes that this was not distributed or supported by Dell). It works fine -- and will interact with either Windows XP or Windows Vista on your desktop PC. However, if you are new to the PDA world, it would perhaps be best to stick with WM 5 for now. It is a decent operating system.
