can't sync since hard reset
(I have Axim 3i) I did a hard reset because I thought it might solve some other problem. I did a data backup, reset, and restore. It did not restore my calendar for some reason, but now I cannot sync on the cradle. It says that it is connected briefly, then disconnects. When I go to my computer, my pocket pc folder is empty. I did not disconnect any wires when I did my reset, but I have checked them to make sure they are secure. I wondered if I did something to my "partnership", but if so, I don't know how to fix it. HELP!! I don't know much about this stuff, and I am frustrated.

Following your hard reset, did you change your Regional Settings back to their previous configuration? Your PC will not recognise your pda if you have not.

Tap, Start > Settings > System (tab) and then Regional Settings

still can't get connected
looked at regional setting. Don't see anything any different. When I click "Get Connected" it still says that it can't find my device. Tried another cradle. Tried using USB on the front of computer. Said that it found new hardware, but same problem. I would like to look at my partnership, but can't find a way. Thanks for suggestion. Got any more?????

Ok, lot's of stuff to check
  • Try a soft reset of the device
  • Make sure that your firewall and AV are allowing bi-directional communication with/via Activesync
  • Make sure that you haven't damaged/bent the pins in the connection block on the Axim
  • Check for damage to the cable and try other USB ports (NOT via a hub)
  • Make sure that the cradle is getting power
  • Check your manufacturer's website for BIOS updates or software patches (particularly if it's a DELL )

no luck yet
Did soft reset. ---- No go
I use Norton Security (and hate it). Can't see where I can chanage anything (and it is the same as before the hard reset) Don't know what AV is.

Pins look okay. When I insert the PPC, it prompts ActiveSync on the computer. It will try to connect (says connected), but only stays on for 15 seconds or so, then disconnects, or so it says.

Cables look fine. Changed top USB on fron of the computer. -- Same

Cradle light is on, so getting power. Even tried a second cradle --- Same

Don't know what Bios is. My PPC is pretty old, so not supported much.
Check your manufacturer's website for BIOS updates or software patches (particularly if it's a DELL )

Okay, I'm confused
I turned off all the parts of Norton, and got it to connect and sync once. (So at least I have my schedule). But it still turned off prematurely. And I still cannot tell it to "get connected" from my computer, because it says device not found.

Since that one time, even with everything off, it is back to doing the same thing. It says connected for less than a minute, then disconnects. And I never changed anything on my computer or Norton when I did my hard reset --- so what's going on?????)
