So I got a "new"(second hand) X51v a few days ago. It didn't come with a working cradle, so I got a USB cable for it.

Well, when I connected the Cable to the PC(running XP), nothing shows up. XP doesn't recognize that the X51v has just been connected. The x51v turns on when it is connected but XP doesn't do anything or show anything. x51v won't charge either even when off and once "off"(standby?) it won't turn back on until I unplug it from the USB thing.

So I tried installing active sync 4.5. That didn't do anything. It won't recognize the X51v either.

Active sync on the x51v says not enough free memory(code: 0x80070070) even though I have over 150 MB free on the device itself and over 1.5 g free on the SD card I put in the expansion slot.

I tried searching online but everyone's computer seems to recognize the x51v to some extent and because of that I can't find the answer I'm looking for.

What can I do to make it work?

as far as I know you need a cradle to active sync. Pick one up cheap on Ebay. I'd also look for an ac cord so you can charge it up off the cradle. It might be possible to charge via usb cord but I've never heard of it.


The active sync you downloaded, sd card ect will all work with the dell cradle. Its worth the investment.
