SDDC card not recognized

Hello all,
I am a naive,newbie with an x50v. I bought a 4gb SDHC card and my Axim does not seem to know it's there. It does not show the "card is not recognized" message but when I check the Storage card tab under memory it gives no indication of it's existance.

Axims don't recognise SDHC cards natively.
There is driver that will make it work, but off the top of my head I can't remember if it works on the X50 series.

I'll have a look for it.

Edit: Having a quick look through that thread I think you need to have WM5 on your X50v

Thank you for your quick response. How do I know if I have WM5. Actually I think I have version 4.21. At least that is what it says under Settings;About. Can I get a different card that may work or upgrade something. Sorry for the stupid questions.

Start/settings/system/system information
will tell you about your system.

If you buy an SD card it will work, it's the HC part that doesn't.

Unzip the download, copy the SDHC.cab file to your device. Open the file explorer on your device. Navigate to the file and double-click on it. It will install itself.

Thanks...do I just drag it all in from my desktop to activesync. Sorry I am a novice!

The SDHC.zip that you downloaded contains one file called SDHC.cab
Copy this file without opening it to your Ax.
Either via the explore feature in Active sync or by copying to an SD or CF card using a card reader.
Once that file is on the Ax, tap on it and it will install.

Marymary, I missed your reply on your other post and have just had a look at it.
The SDHC is as I have described above, but the other, Drivers and downloads is an .EXE file and needs to be run on your PC with the Ax connected.
However, the file that you linked too is wrong for your system, DO NOT use it.

What exactly where you looking for?

Hi and thanks. I cannot get my wireless network connected to the axim..no way. Tried everything, even putting in my isp settings. Aol on a netgear router/modem. WPA-PSK encryption, key enetered. Can see SSID and continuously trying to connect but never does! I was told that other link was a patch for the wifi???? Have followed advice about settings til I am blue in face. Cant see why it shouldnt connect.Thanks

Ok, what ROM do you have?
Start/settings/system/system information
If it say a number less than A12 there then we know where to start.
You do have an X51v? not an X51 or X50?

The driver you linked to was an update for the Wifi, among other things, but it was for an X51 with QVGA, where you say you have an X51V which is VGA.

Try turning the WPA security off on your router and see if you get a connection then.
Make sure the router is set to Mixed Mode. B and G not just G.

I suspect it is the WPA, I don't think Axims like to connect to that.

Make sure you have entered the key correctly. I had that once when I had my keyboard set to another language, I kept trying to put in a y but was infact hitting a z.
It appeared to connect but wouldn't go anywhere, no wrong key warnings.

I assume you have looked at Ikehikers excellent Wifi guide.

It is a X51V. I have router at mixed b/g. That guide has become a bible to me over the last few days!! My network is there. Just not connecting. A12 Rom
Will try taking out the security later today...what do I do if it works then...change it to WEP? Me no like ! Is there a patch for the VGA wifi? Thanks

If you have A12, you have it all.

The only step from there are the non dell ROMs, WM6 and I'm not sure that they would help with the Wifi issue.

WEP may be your easiest option, I think some people have got it to work with WPA, but I don't remember how.

You could always buy yourself a small router just for the Axim if you are that concerned about security.

Disabled security in router...accessed internet immediately and was able to browse though strangely wasnt able to work from any 'favourites' but only from the address bar in IE.
Can anyone advise about the WPA -PSK issue or should I just try WEP ( dont want to have to unless I really have to?)

No luck. I have tried a few different cards and they still say "Unrecognized Card". I am really growing to dislike my Axim. Now it doesn't sync anymore either. The bar comes up in "Windows Mobile Device Center" but it never finishes syncing. Anyone want an X50v cheap?
