When you say "go back to the previous screen", which program are you talking about? If you just want to close a window, tap on the X on the right hand corner of the screen. Note that by default, this only minimizes the program into the background unless you have a 3rd party utility installed.
File associations are typically added within a program. What files and what programs are you thinking of?
I'm not sure about your 75% battery problem; are you able to try a new battery? As for your screen dimming, you can change the settings under Settings - System tab - Power - Advanced.
And as for the Owners Roadmap, I'm not quite sure where it's gone to either...
I'm using a program called Cachemate. It uses files with the extension GPX. I can import files from within the program, but it seems like simply clicking on them like in regular Windows would be simpler.
I don't have another battery -- I got this unit second hand from a friend who didn't use it much. Where's a good place on line to get a good quality battery at a reasonable price. They're dirt cheap on eBay but I worry about eBay batteries.
I'm aware of the power settings screen. It has two settings, one for On Battery Power and one for On External Power. I assume it's on external power when charging (on the cradle). The problem is the external power option is unchecked (thus the time grayed out), but it goes dim after the time in the On Battery setting and then turns off completely after some fairly short time I can't find a setting for.
Is there a way to make screen captures on the device?
If you search the threads for "replacement battery" you can find several discussions and opinions from members about their favorites. You'll find recommendations for batteries from PPC techs, Mugen, Boxwave, and others.
You're right in your assumption about the external battery power. Have you tried Settings>System>Brightness>External Power settings?
I went to the link you suggested and tried to get the device to connect to the internet through my computer/network.
The instructions say:
Quote:
Provided your PC is connected to the Internet and your Axim is connected to your PC via ActiveSync (either docked in its cradle or connected using a USB sync cable), you can have online access on your Axim. On the Tools-->Options-->Rules page of your desktop ActiveSync, make sure "Pass Through" option is enabled for the Internet.
The Tools-->Options-->Rules page has no "Pass Through" option listed.
The website matter could be a number of things. There are some limitations to the MS browser that is on the ppc (a reason many members of this site have turned to other browsers. The one I'm using, for example, doesn't handle websites with Flash, and I've always had some limits with my work's website and with ones at Panera Bread, among other places. You might search through the threads here that hold discussions about the various merits of the several browsers. Somebody else here who knows more about these things will chime in ....
Basic cut and paste is a matter of highlighting, then holding your stylus until the little circles appear and offer a menu that includes the cut or copy option. Then hold it again where you want to paste and the menu should appear again, giving you the option to do the actual pasting.
I have it getting to the internet via my desktop and ActiveSync, but I can't figure out how to make it connect wirelessly. The Del WLAN utility shows 4 wireless networks within range but I don't know how to connect to them.
If I try the instructions in the manual I'm taken to screens that don't seem to agree with the manual. For example, no networks are listed and there is not "add new" button. Even if there was I wouldn't know what to add.
Yes I have read through those. Most if not all of them are about setting up a home network, and I am trying to figure out how to connect to a remote Wi-Fi like Panera Bread.
But, in setting up the home system he discusses acquiring the network with the X50. I used this page since my unit has WM03SE. He says,
Quote:
Once activated and within range of a wireless network, the PPC will ask you for the type of connection (Figure WM03SE-3). Typically, you should select Work for a home network, then tap Connect and you will be automatically connected.
Nothing like this happens for me. None of the screens in figures WM03SE-3 through 5 appear.
The troubleshooting stuff seems to be for no signal. I have signal and 3-5 wireless networks are listed. My own is listed as having a strong signal. I can tap any of them on the list and they highlight but this seems to do nothing else.
I just tried to post a message and it says a moderator must approve it. What's going on? It's not done that on any of my previous posts -- I'm a registered member and logged in.
