Sorry for the double post but while I was checking the web in the middle of the night I thought I had found a zip convrter that would output exe as cabs.
I downloaded it and IT WAS A NIGHTMARE1 It's called ACDZIP and is virtually impossible to remove, it pops up even when you click on your system tools to try to eliminate it.
The only way I got rid of it was to start up in basic safe mode, and use system restore, after hours of rooting around trying to delete its components.
Someone went to great lengths to develop this piece of the worst malware I've ever encountered. Clicking on any of my spyware removers only brought up its splash page. BEWARE!!!!!!
Now if anyone does know of a safe program that will convert a exe to a cab, please let me know. Currently all my active syn connections are down and my only choice is to use a card to transfer files, which works great for cabs.
Like is there a program that says pick a program and "save as CAB" for example?
Thanks in advance!

Reason: style
When you run an .exe setup file on your PC it unpacks and stores the .cab file on your PC until you connect your device.
You can find the .cab files and copy them to an SD card for transfer to your Ax.
Using windows explorer look for them in
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Activesync
They will generally be stored there in a folder of the name of the program.
That is probably the easiest way to do things.
You can also check FreeCab's for PocketPC's. They host a bunch of cab files to programs.
Every now and then you can find an exe that is actually a self-extracting archive. Winrar will unzip these and you can usually find the cab in them.

Still stuck cause activesync cradle broken bluetooth bad too
I do know activesync does the trick. I'm trying to find a program to convert exe to cab to paste to sd card and install cab by inserting card. my cradle is broke, so activesync doe nothing at all right now.
By the way, is there any way to match up the PC com ports with the Axim com ports? Even when this stuff was new, they didn't correlate, and no place to assign equal numbered ports for ingoing/outgoing. Due to recent hard drive virus, bluetooth only pushes from pc to axim, very interesting. No other options exist. Works real well tho
But did you read my post, it has nothing to do with Active sync working or not.
When you run the setup file for most programs that you want the .cab file for, they get unpacked from the .exe and are stored on your computer.
In other words, with most .exe files you run them on your PC and they put the .cab file on your computer.
You then need to find it and move it to your Ax.
Most programs can be found / purchased in .CAB form to begin with, as well.
In fact, all of my software that I use has been installed through .CAB. After you find the program that you want to purchse / download, just do a quick search for that program in .CAB mode. let's say I want to find POCKETPROGRAM, I just do a google search for "POCKETPROGRAM CAB". That usually puts me in the right place to download exacly what I need.
I do this alot because I sync at work, and I can't install files from my work pc. But I can download the .cab and transfer it over Sync to my Ax.
