Can't get Activesync to connect to Axim X51v!

Dear all, sorry if this has been posted many times before!

I have just got an Axim X51v, with software etc and have been trying to attach it to my Dell Inspiron laptop via the USB cradle.

I installed Activesync first, (as stated on the warning notes in the packaging!) before attempting to connect the PDA.

I then connected the cradle via USB, put the Axim in the cradle and got a USB bubble (bottom right of screen) saying "Dell Axim X51 found".

However Activesync itself has never been able to connect to the Axim! I have uninstalled Activesync and re-installed it 4 times and the result is always the same. USB bubble says connected, but activesync cannot see it.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to cure this problem?

Many thanks in advance! :)

On the Ax go start/settings/connections/usb to pc
untick enable advanced network functionality.

Try that and see what happens.

Do you have Vista???

If you do then you'll have to download the Windows Mobile Device Center. This is the link.

I have that same problem except it's with my desktop. I uninstalled activesync lots of times but it still doesn't work! Can anyone also help me. Thnx. [Links to download the most recent activesync for computer and pda would be helpful since I lost original cd that came with axim].

Wait! I just got it to connect! Ok, you should try a hard reset on your axim and then download the newest version of microsoft activesync and then connect it to you laptop and see if it works. I have no idea how I eventually got it to work on mine but I'll see if I can get the steps.

my experience with axims & msoft is just go sraight to the ms & axim software updates, they make no effort at all to send you a unit w current drivers etc, you must download all new stuff or spend hours frustrated. It's a lousy way to sell high tech. They don't bother to ship an up to date unit, & we newbies suffer hours until we read here then update there! BTW, cradles & usb's often fail evenwhen leds are on! See amazonfor ggood cheap hardware, often it's the problem. One of my pet peeves is that comp hardware is horribly designed and poorly made by people who had no idea how to design a reliable & simple connector for example. Good luck....& back up Everything!!!!!! fiberglass rat
