Hi,
I have been given a Axim X51 with a Dell Installation Disc containing Microsoft ActiveSync 4.1 and Pocket PC Enhancements.
When I install it on my PC (XP Home edition) is says I need Outlook to sync Notes etc. I don't have Outlook installed on my computer, I thought it would come on the installation disc, it's a bit expensive to buy, is there a way around this?
or you could buy something like PhatNotes and sync those to your computer.

Thanks for all the quick replies. It seems a genuine Dell disc it's called Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 Getting Started CD. I've opened it in my DVD drive and there is nothing in there relating to Outlook. It came in a Microsoft sleeve with bar code and what looks like registration number. Perhaps I'll contact Dell even though they don't make them any more!
Don't think it needs outlook to sync rather I know it doesn't need outlook as I have never used outlook and synced 1000s of times. It might need outlook to sync the very first time (although I doubt that). Outlook 2000 comes on the disk that you mentioned, along with trial games and a bunch of other memory hog items.
Hi mostlylisten, it will sync to the computer but will not open files like notes, it says it needs outlook. As I said I've open the cd and there is definitely nothing on it for Outlook. Could be a bogus cd although it looks genuine!

If you bought it from dell you would have got 2 discs... outlook would have been on the second one.

Ah! There lies the answer, I bought it from a reseller and only got one disc. My son has a mobile phone with Windows on it, perhaps I can get Outlook from his disc.
