Wifi signal indicator (at top of screen)

Hi all,

I keep seeing screenshots of Axims with WM6 that show a WiFi signal meter at the top of the screen (rather than just the one at the bottom). I've searched all over for an app that can do this. Am I missing a simple app or a setting?

Just so you know how I use WiFi: I use the Odssey client (btw does anyone know a way to launch Odyssey minimized rather than having to open it from the settings menu) which:
- Finds a network (either mine or an open one while I'm outdoors)
- After about 10 seconds the WLAN utility indicator changes to two arrows
- Allows me to check my e-mail

Thanks a lot!

Ryan

michelinesbury,
Are you using any Today screen replacement programs like Wisbar Advanced?

The left picture below is what my x51v/WM6.1 looks like when I'm using the standard Today screen and connected to my WiFi network. The right image below shows my taskbar when I'm running Wisbar and connected to my WiFi network. When I'm using Wisbar, my custom icon is two arrows. It represents the connection status not the signal level. The icon that looks like a signal level is just a button to start the connection process.

Thanks for the reply. I don't have Wisbar installed. I originally thought that the WiFi icon indicated the signal strength rather than just being an icon.

My taskbar looks like the attached photo. When WiFi is connected, the two arrows with the X change to just two arrows. Are you saying that Wisbar comes with a WiFi signal strength indicator?

Thanks again

yes and no... it merely skins the system's icon so it looks custom

you said Axim and WM6....

What version of ROM?
Are you connected at the time?

Yes, Axim X51v, Lenny L11. WiFi was on when I took the screenshot but it wasn't connected to a network.

Isn't there any software out there that can achieve this? Thanks!

You mean like this? [X50V] ROM WM6.1 VOIP Professional (WWE/GER/ITA/ESN/FRA) - xda-developers.

I know it's for x50v.

Funny...Ive tried that ROM (but for the X51V) and it never had that icon either. Maybe its a hardware thing. Its not a huge deal except that when Im running applications I can never tell how strong my WiFi signal is...

The Wifi symbol at the top just tells you when it is on or off. The one at the bottom gives you the signal strength.

I think you are thinking of the signal meter on phones, not on axims.

Aha...it's the phone signal indicator!

That's why I'm in the newbie section...
Thanks for all your help.
