I recently discovered that Thunderbird can sync via Finch sync so I pulled my old Axim & dusted it off. First I figured I would re-install MS active sync first to test everything out before venturing into playing with Finch.

I downloaded & installed Active sync 4.5.0 I have a Axim X51 running MS Mobile 5.0 on an XP laptop

After reading many threads & Faqs I still cannot get it to create partnership

The one error I received originally was that Outlook was not my default Client and I changed that just to see if it would work.

I am connecting to the laptop via the cradle and the laptop did recognize the device. The USB is check marked.

It states that the USB is available but doesn't see the device?! nor created the partnership

It ask me to click next but I keep going around in circles back to this prompt.

I used the trouble shooter to no avail

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Also it is my understanding that I need active sync for installing software & transferring not email/calendar files or will Finch do that also and should I just forget Active sync?
