Cannot connect to secured home wireless network

I've had my Axim 51 for years, and have never figured out how to use the internet with it. I've been trying to work though some of the issues shown on this board, and I'm wondering if something is wrong with my Axim.

1. When I go to the Settings/ Connection / Dell WLAN Utility / Config tab, I see my network listed as a secured network. When I hold the stylus down, I DO NOT GET ANY MENU! Just the dotted circle. I'm wondering IS THIS WHAT'S WRONG?

2. I can't seem to delete anything. When I go to
Setting/ Connection /Network Cards
the first time it shows me a Wireless tab and available networks. But if I don't do the right thing there, it asks me for a network name and gives me this repeated error message. "A network name is required..." I can't cancel out of the "Configure Wireless Network" page. I'm on the "General" tab. I can't seem to get back to the list. (although at some random time in the future it will pop up...I don't know what causes it.

3. Please advise: Should there be popup menus where I'm not getting any? If so, is there a reason for this.

4. What would you advise for getting this to work with my home wireless network.

Thank you!

I really would like to make this work as it is supposed to!

1. there is nothing on that page that can be changed - it's simply reporting the network it has associated with.

2. Normally you do not need to add networks on the Configure Wireless Networks page. The list includes all the networks available (in range) and all that you've previously connected to. You can only 'remove' networks that are out of range. Tapping on the network name gives you the option to change some settings (Connects to: Work or The Internet, Work is usually the best choice; the Network Key can be entered, if you use WEP, enter in hexadecimal format). You can only see the Configure Wireless Networks page when WiFi is turned on.

3. Based on the info, I don't think you are missing any popup menus. If you want to 'start fresh,' you can temporarily unplug the router, remove the settings (from the Configure Wireless Networks page), then restart the router. When your Axim finds the network, chose 'Work' from the option and fill in the network key.

You can find all these details and much more in the WiFi Guide linked from my signature.
