Ms outlook help needed

Can Anyone help with an MS Outlook problem. I have managed to corrupt my MS outlook PST file on my desktop and lost all my personal folders and contacts etc. I have the information on my X51 and when I Sync it all of the information comes up on my PC however, as soon as I take the X51 out of the cradle, I loose all the data again. I have tried doing a back-up of Outlook whilst the PDA is in place but it does not work. does anyone know how to find the PST file on the X51 and copy it over to the PC. Any offer of help would be =greatly appreciated.

thanks

Repairing your .pst file depends on which Windows OS you're running.

You should think about either repairing your .pst file (for XP have a look here) or deleting it and simply syncing the data from yourX51. Alternatively, if you follow a good PC (not ppc) backup protocol, simply restore the information from your last known good archive.

A word of warning, before deleting files from Outlook, remember that your X51 will not have copies of all of your email to sync "back" to your PC and you stand a good chance of loosing data! Make a backup of your .pst file FIRST

In Vista, your .pst will be located at C:\Users\user name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook (where user name is your id on the PC).

In XP, your .pst file will be located at C:\Documents And Settings\user name

Hi. I am away from home now for just less than 2 weeks but will try to find my PST file and see if I can restore it. I run MS Vista home version and tried 5 different restore points but each one failed due to an "unspecified error". I have learned a lesson about backing up email though. However, the data is obviously on my Axim because it is restored when I sync. Is there any way of finding this information on the PDA and copying it over to the PC?

thanks

Mac

There is no PST file on a pocket pc. The Outlook-related data on a pocket pc is stored in a completely different format there. The only way to get the data from your pocket pc to your computer in a workable form is by syncing it to Outlook on your computer.
