That is why I asked the question about the DST fixes. There have been a number of documented bugs with recurring tasks and appointments that originate outside of the current DST window setting.

Thanks to everybody contributing. I will try some of these out over the next few days. It has already taken hours of my time trying to get this working. I depend upon my Dell so much that I've got to keep trying

I have now established that if I do a restore with Sprite backup and exclude "personal databases", I do not have the "slow/freeze" response problem even though I use a current date. This has excluded my calander and contacts. Whilst I can re do my calander, I have it synched with my Outlook calander at my work server, I cannot restore the contacts from work becuasue this is not synched.

Obviously the contacts exist on my sprite and MS mobile backup on my SD card but it appears that I can't seperate this from the calendar.(I think it is the calendar that is causing the problem).
Has any one got any idea how I can just get back my contacts without the calendar.

Thanks

I think I have now got it working again without freezing/going slow(albeit without the calendar appointments).

What I did was back up the entire PDA using Sprite backup. I then backed up again using MS mobile backup, but just backing up the contacts only of the personal database. (something I didn't know you could do before). I then restored using Sprite backup but excluded the personal database (which includes the calendar). I then restored my last MS backup which was for the contacts only.

I have now done another backup, as it is at the moment, and will attempt to synch the calendar with my calendar at work.

Thanks for everyones input over the last few days
