Unfortunately No,
Microsoft in their infinite wisdom removed the Wifi capability from ActiveSync after version 3. something.
An X51v needs at least 3.8, I think, possibly 4.xx I can't remember the version numbers off hand.

But basically the simple answer is no, the versions that work with X51v don't have Wifi sync.

you could however use one of the cloud based services, such as windows live, yahoo, or google... and sync your pc and axim with the cloud (and hence each other)

99.9% of what you do on the axim x51v can be done without active sync anyway. Just another slowdown on my startups.

So true. I agree with Mostlylisten on this. The only time I needed to Activesync was when I installed a non-CAB program or an non-PPC executable. If that was the case then I would have execute the program on the PC then send it to the PDA via sync cable.

Other than that as you go along you can send things to your PDA by Bluetooth or just put it on an SD card.

Note: .exe=executable

That might be the case for some people.

However, my ax syncs changes I make in excel, access, contacts, calendar, word, email, photos and a variety of other things several times a day.
I actually sync via BT, so as soon as I walk back into my office it updates everything I have just done.
Trying to keep on top of that manually would be a nightmare.

Thanks for all those replies.

I have just purchased a netbook and have just realized that it doesn't have bluetooth. I often need to activesync and was hoping to find another way to do it instead of carrying around the cradle.

You can get a power and sync cable so you don't need the cradle, or better yet just pick up a BT dongle.
