Activesync using bluetooth

I have recently purchased a bluetooth dongle for my new Netbook. I have been trying to activesync my dell axim x51v using bluetooth, but I can't seem to get it working.

Can anyone direct me to some step by step instructions so that I can work out what I am doing wrong.

It's usually pretty straight forward, however there can be two problems.

1. Some BT Dongles don't have the correct Profile for using ActiveSync, the only fix for that is to get a Dongle that does.
2. The Com port can get confused.

Basically,

Turn BT On and make Discoverable on your PC

Turn BT On and make Device Visible on your X51v, in the Mode Tab of BT.
Then in the Devices tab tap "Add new device" it should then search for and find your Dongle
follow the relevant steps to pair it, adding a passcode if necessary.
It should then show you services that are available with your Dongle,
One of them should be ActiveSync with a tic box next to it.
If it is there Tic it and OK your way out. (If it's not there then the Dongle doesn't support ActiveSync.)
Then open ActiveSync on your Axim, Tap Menu and select "connect via Bluetooth"
It should connect.

If it doesn't work, then you may need to change the com port settings on the PC
In AS on PC, go file/Connection settings
third Tic box down, Allow connections............. should be ticked
then in the drop down menu you can try different com ports, it sometimes takes a bit of trial and error to get the right one.

See how you go with that, If not let us know.

Edit: Here is a link to a BT Guide, but it is a bit old an may not have the set up for WM5 devices.

My problem must be with the Dongle because in the Partnership settings on the PDA there is no box to tick with Activesync, the only box I have is to tick is "Serial Port".

What sort of Dongles are compatible with Activesync?

[QUOTE=yvette;1059295083]My problem must be with the Dongle because in the Partnership settings on the PDA there is no box to tick with Activesync, the only box I have is to tick is "Serial Port".

Now I am not sure that my Bluetooth dongle is the problem.

The problem seems to be on my PDA, when I set up a New Bluetooth partnership with my computer and I select partnership settings, the only service I can use from my computer is "Serial Port", I don't have the option to select Activesync. According to all the instructions I have read on this site Activesync should be there to select.

Can anyone please help me!!!!!!

Serial Port should work....Perhaps these instructions will help you out:

Use Bluetooth to Sync your Pocket PC

Thanks Julie, these instructions are very good. I seem to be struggling with it because I don't have a Bluetooth Connection Wizard on my Axim x51v, do you know of anywhere I could download this program so that I can install on my PDA?

Yes. How did you do it??? I did it a handful of times on the x30 but on the x51v I've been Noobified again. Did you need to establish a physical connection first before BT worked?
