won't turn on

I just bought an Axim x50v on eBay, I've never had one before, but wanted one for a while, and I know nothing about this, but I know a lot about computers in general, well I knew enough that I had to at least let it charge a little, and it's been on the cradle for 3 hours now, with the amber light on, which I guess means that it's charging, anyhow, it won't turn on. When I press the power button at the top, nothing happens. Nothing.

I made sure the hold was off, on the left side. Still nothing. I don't know what else I can try.

Help!

1-Try taking the battery out of the Axim for a hour.
2-While it's out charge the battery only on the cradle.
3-Replace battery and test.

Ok, I tried that. It still does not come on. Is it possible that I got a bad unit? Is it possible that I got ripped off? Is it possible it's just a bad/old battery? (The amber light comes on, says it's charging)

I'm starting to panic here.

Are you sure the backlight settings aren't set for ultra-dim (off)??? Have you tried hard resetting the unit???

I think you know the drill. Use your stylus and poke the small hole in back of the axim and press the power button while still pressing the stylus in the hole.

One thing to remember is that it takes longer than three hours for the main and backup battery to charge. You may want to charge the Ax overnight and do a hard reset in the morning.

It finally came on, the battery had to completely charge to 100%, I thought it had.

Thank goodness, I was really starting to sweat it.

Thank you to everyone who helped.
