A06->A12, x51v question.

Why is there a long thread (with a complicated procedure), when the Dell R129272 update seems to be a simple procedure using a cradle and activesync?

My unit came with A01, and the A06 update using R114959 was simple. There must be a reason why not to do R129272, but this is totally new to me.

Thanks

Edit. sb x51v. I have a x61 thinkpad

The long thread is for people who either does not have a cradle/ USB cord or do not have Activesync (The Dell upgrade needs XP, not Vista nor Windows 7).

Both are exactly the same with the Dell .exe being easier.

In your case, just use the .exe.

People had some problems with it, often caused by not following the instructions correctly.

It's basically very simple if you do it right.

Most problems were caused by people not leaving it connected to the AC and not doing a second Hard Reset.

If in doubt, follow the procedure in the first post of that thread.
