Problem making wi-fi connection x50v

Have installed TomTom Navigator 5 and Avast4pda today, and activated emails via tiscali on my x50v, with XP Pro on the laptop.

I now have a problem with wifi connection, in that when I try to enable wireless, the connection is not established at all. It normally does this automatically with no problem.

Have backed up the pda, done a hard reset, and tried again after restoring files, same happens.

When I try the same without restoring the backed up files, it's OK.

It seems to me that the likely culprit is Avast, but I cannot delete it, as when I explore via ActiveSync, I get the message that the files are in use. even though the wireless connection is not established.

How can I get round this?
