.....until I do a hard reset. Then it connects OK to my home network. Restoring back-up files goes OK, but if I switch off after using the internet and return later, I'm unable to establish any sort of connection. A soft reset doesn't help, and so it's back to hard reset - plainly no good!

Any suggestions, please?

(Previous issues on my laptop with ActiveSync and avast seem to have been sorted, although I still can only use ActiveSync with my laptop - the PC still stops my mouse moving .
when the cradle is connected, even without the pda in!!??) If anyone can help with this one, I'd be grateful).

Did you try Odyssey Client? It is a manual form of connection. It can be found in Start-->Settings-->"Connections" tab

If you can connect using that, the problem can be narrowed down.
