Hi - a friend gave my wife an older Dell Axim X5. It still works great. She's a hairdresser, and wants to use it to keep her clients lists, names, phone numbers, and other info like special products, hair color codes etc.

What program do I need to install on my desktop so she can type this stuff in, and then send it to the PDA?

Outlook for the contacts, Activesync to sync them. You'll need older versions of both, I think, as the X5 doesn't work with the most recent versions of Activesync. There may be historical files online somewhere.

Look for ActiveSync version 3.8.0

It seems to be the best for X5

Alternately, you can use ActiveSync with Thunderbird combined with Lightning and either BirdieSync or FinchSync.
