Poor battery life x50v

I've recently bought a used x50v with two 1100ma batteries, and am very disappointed with the battery life I'm getting. I have a video programme of British Birds installed on the CF card, and from (apparenty) full charge to getting the low battery warning takes only about 15 minutes playing time. (I should've, but didn't, note the power level shown at this stage). Not much use in the field!

I find it difficult to believe this can be normal, and would be interested to hear whether this is considered to be an expected length of time for such use.

I don't know how old these batteries are, and how they've been used in the past.

Assuming new batteries are suggested, it's tempting to go for one of the 4000ma ones advertised on ebay, although the extra size could be considered a disadvantage.

Anyone have any experience of these, in terms of reliability, functionality etc. please?

Another alternative would be to carry one or more standard sized ones as spares, in which case any advice as to reliable sourcing of these would be appreciated.

The batteries definitely sound like they're no good. If you're looking for the high capacity batteries as replacement, consider:

- extra size and bulk
- need for new case (if you use one)
- availability of battery door (although most sellers will include the appropriate door with the battery)
- your use of the device (if you're going to be near a power source, you may not need such a mega battery)

If you want a bit more capacity in a smaller form, consider the 1800MAH EXTENDED BATTERY by Mugen. It's just a few millimetres thicker than the stock battery, but gives you a bit more juice.

Also, take a look at this thread that is currently discussing aftermarket batteries:
