I still didn't get my axim but already got my CF ethernet card and extra memory.

i'm very new in pocket pc world so there are alot of things i don't know...

i was wondering if i can surf the net (regular web sites , not mobile etc)
or i need to upload them through some special software.

and another thing , if I can browse through regular web sites , can I download them on CF or Secure digital card and use while i'm offline.

thanx everybody in advance

Yes, you can surf "regular web sites" with a few exceptions. Some sites attempt to detect what version of browser you are using. The version of Internet Explorer with PocketPC reports back that it is version 3.02 (a quite old version). Some sites will see this and prevent you from accessing them. There is a tweak you can make in the registry to "trick" those sites into thinking you have a newer version. However, some functionality of newer browsers is not supported in the pocket IE version. So even after "tricking" some sites into letting you in, there may still be some things that won't work correctly.

And yes, you can save offline pages to a memory card for later viewing.

How do you do it though? How can you open just a regular browser window and type in your own url?

When your Axim is connected to the computer (cable or cradle), you can use Pocket IE and "type" in a URL to go to a website, like aximsite.com. The Axim connects to the internet thru the computer it is attached to.
If you have a wifi CF card or wireless modem, then you can connect to websites wirelessly. There are a few posts here that detail how to setup the wifi and wireless connections, you can use the search button to find them. :)

I'd like to see a new version of IE for Pocket PC 2002! Anyone know if there's anything coming out soon?

I may be misunderstanding what you're trying to explain, but you can also connect the Axim to the internet without using a computer. Of course you need a wifi connection or modem to do so.

I surf the net all the time on my Axim, you are able to type in the URL in Pocket IE by making sure you have the "address bar" checked in the "view" option.

Some sites will refuse you, no matter how you try to work around them.

Try www.google.com/wml for a search engine geared to finding PPC-sized sites.
