Need Advice

Any Ideas?
Transfer of backup to new Axim
I am recieving a new Ax thru my work and would like to transfer my current Axim partnership information over to the new one. Currently I only have a single partnership with my home pc. I just replaced the hard drive on my work laptop and need to start from scratch with a new partnership for it. The new Ax has the 2003 platform, the previous is 2002. I am looking for advice on the best way to make the transfer as smooth as a possible. I hope that I won't need to reinvent the wheel here. My son will be the proud owner of my current Ax.

I would try to use the dell backup tool to back up info, then transfer and restore it to the new one, i dont know if that will carry over the partnership data, but its worth a try,

Don't see any reason why that won't work. Isn't that the same kind of process you use when you flash your ROM and install WM2003 upgade?

You have to install active sync 3.7 first..then do your back up following the new way it's actually some done auto matically and some done manually....then you do the upgrade to 2003....there is a walk thru on the microsoft mobile 2003 forum. axim software forums>microsoft mobile 2003>directions for upgrade

I just went ahead and upgraded mine a few days ago...didn't have any problems....most of my old programs worked right off the bat...some needed the mirosoft embedded visual basic runtime..which is a free download from microsoft...and i had to redo the sort cuts for software on my sd card

Thanks for the input and advice. I will give it a whirl and check back. I am pretty jazzed about the whole deal. I bought my first Dell pda in December and now the boss wants the whole group to get dialed in so he sprung for the new gear...good move and better than avg for goverment work!

What your saying should work. I see no reason why it shouldn't.

Well it's done. I'm not sure if I actually used any formal process more like a mix of backup, drag and drop of My Documents and reinstall of programs. The only real snafu was a new install of mNotes from Cadenza for the work Lotus Notes email. Somehow I managed to delete all my contacts from all three devices, desktop/laptop/p_pc. Retrieved them out of the Outlook trash a day later after much wailing and gnashing of teeth. Up and running n dialed in. Good to go and thanks for the help ...you all get a get out of jail free card from big brother.
