Okay.. I installed (in order):

1) MS Outlook

2) ActiveSync 3.5

When I connected, I was able to Synch, and I could install programs with an INSTALL program, but.. when I access Mobile Device from under Windows Explorer, I see NOTHING.. no files, no folders, NOTHING.. I have both a CF and an SD card installed, and they are working on the device, but they are not visible...

I even uninstalled Activesync 3.5, and installed Activesync 3.6, but nothing changed...

anybody have any ideas? A Soft reset has not helped, either....

Just in case you haven't tried this: click once on "Mobile Device" and then wait a few seconds while Windows pulls directory information off your Ax. You should (hopefully) then see some stuff in the right-hand pane of the Explorer window, following which you can drill down to the root folder, your storage cards, etc. If you just click on the + symbol in the left-hand pane, nothing happens.

Make sure you have the Axim in the cradle or connected with the Microsoft ActiveSync showing connected and schronized. Then when you open Windows Explorer directory and scroll down to Mobile Device. Click on it and you should be able to see folders and files on the device. Mobile Device shows blank when the device is not connected.

Another way to get to the Mobile Device is to click on the Explore button on the Microsoft ActiveSync Window. That should take you straight to the same folders without having to find the Mobile Device folder in the Windows Explore program.

I have also discovered that sometimes the Windows Explorer won't open the PocketPC folders unless Activesync Explore has been opened and the directory read in. You might try that.

I have tried all of these suggestions, but i am curious as to what you mean my the "folder read in" ??

BTW.. yes, I have made sure that active sync was connected, and it had synchronized with no problems.. even got my E-Mail, and allowed me to transfer files through the use of the Files folder.

I also made sure to wait for 5 minutes after clicking on Mobile Device, and it never did load anything.. it was Blank.. no files, no folders...

Open Activesync on the desktop, Open Explore in Activesync.. Now wait until the Axim communicates the directory structure to the desktop and the window is populated with the first directory. Now if you use the PC Windows Explorer it should be able to open the Mobile Device and see the folder structure. It's not that Activesync is connected, it's that Activesync has opened its own internal Explorer window and forced the Axim to tell it the directory structure.

Okay.. well, I tried all that.. I even ewnt as far as to UnInstall my USB ports, and re-install them, but the same thing.. I ended up just installing the cradle on a different computer on my Neywork, and it worked fine.. must be something with WinXP....

I use Win XP and dpn't have that problem. A lot of us use XP. Not sure what it is if using the explore button on Active Sync didn't work. Does Active Sync open explore and show you the device?

Yep! Opens the explore windows, and shows me a cloumn on the left for folders, etc, and a column on the right for files, but never populates them.. tried hitting F5, etc... No idea..

I have REALLY got to re-format and re-install my system.. get all the old crap out, and start from scratch....

Course I have been saying that for 2 years.. hahahaha

Longshot again, but could you have a firewall blocking the browse function?

I will be damned! Apparently, Zone Alarm PRO does, in fact, block the browse function !

I never knew that Zone Alarm could block USB traffic... you learn something new every day !!

can anyone point me out to the settings in ZAPro that will allow Axim access to display folder content inside 'Mobile Device'?

I've removed all ActiveSync components from ZAPro program list, reinstalled device to allow ZAPro to re-detect and allowed it to run as server, but I still don't see any of my files/folders in Mobile Device.

thanks!

steiner, I too have the same problem as you, except my firewall is McAfee. I have still not figured out how to get around this problem except for disabling it. I also cannot access the Internet with my Ax in the cradle.

I should note that these problem started when I began using DSL. Using McAfee plus dial-up was fine.

I have the same problem, but it comes and goes. I was having the problem earler, I logged out and back in (to restart ActiveSync (3.7.1) and I was able to browse again.
