Transcriber doesn't work after upgrade

I recently upgraded with the CD from Dell, but ever since then my Transcriber stopped working. Most of the time if I just wrote anywhere on the screen. it would translate into ??? or something way off. When I open up the Correction window, it would work and recognize my writing. The RECOGNIZE function also works in NOTES, but when I use the Transcriber the regular way it doesn't work right.

I have tried recalibrating the Stylus contact points and also resetting the system Nothing works.

Any ideas?

wish i could take credit for this possible fix, but i saw someone else post in when another member was having the same problem as you.

when you are in a program, and the transcriber tool bar is showing at the bottom of the screen, there is an arrow on the far left. tap that with the stylus until it points up. whatever direction the arrow points, the PPC will assume you are holding the PPC with the arrow ponting up and orient your writing accordingly.

give that a shot.

I had the exact same problem, and the fix worked for me too. Thanks jpmarth.

Hi Doug, could you let me know please, what upgrade was it that you were doing on the axim? Was this an upgrade from PPC 2002 to PPC2003? Was it the PPC2003 patch update on CD? Was it a rom update?

Please let me know, as I'm just curious what changes made to the axim, brought about the problem.

Thanks Doug! :-{)} And of course thank you jpmarth, for the solution and info. :-{)}

Kind regards,

techguy

Sometimes the arrow resets itself and causes problems for you. Check it first when you find that Transcriber is not working well. It is a simple matter to set it back where you want it.
