Cool Pocket Word and File Explorer

Why can't I access the directory structure created by File Explorer from within Pocket Word?

Pocket Word will by default search My Documents and one sublevel.

If you have a storage card you need to create a My Documents on there and it will find files on there.

My Documents\Business is ok
\Storage Card\My Documents\Personal is ok
\Storage Card\My Documents\Personal\Finances is not
My Documents\My Music\Rap is not.

Also check using Explorer on the PC through Active Sync and see that there is not a file called _IgnoreMyDocs_ or something similar of the storage card. It will be a hidden file. If you find it, create the My Documents folder on your storage card and delete the file.

If you have got \Storage Card\My Documents\Personal\Finance\2003 you can still open a file through Explorer. Just that Word or Excel won't find them. Hope that makes sense.

Thx for the input. I did know that initiating from Explorer is possible. I just wondered why the limitation from within Word or Excel. Any idea why only one sub-level is accessible?

If this is causing you problems, try using TextMaker from www.SoftMaker.de. This is a fully functioning word processor with virtually all the function os MS Word for desktops. I believe that it also available from Handango (Code 37C10 will give you a 15% discount)

Textmaker doesn't have the same limitations when opening documents?

No, Textmaker has it's own "file manager" opening menu which allows you to open files from anywhere.

The opening menu also offers the option to have "quick paths" you can program from any location for quick access, a file search option for searching anywhere for files to open, and even a "preview" option.

It really is a "must have" application if you are accessing any signficantly sized documents. (Although it's not the fastest application).

I never use the Pocket Word browser to open docs, I have Resco File Explorer and just click on the PWord docs I want to open.
