Using Axim I can surf www, get emails, active sync but I can't see C:\

What am I doing wrong.
I right click on C:\
click on sharing,
Make a new share name like: cdrive
Set permissions to all
Try to map drive on Axim using Resco explorer or WM2003 (A05) explorer and it keeps telling me that "Cannot map network path. Network resource cannot be found or you do not have permission to access the network.

The Axim does find the desktop computer name.

Say for example : \\abcdefge and I then add \cdrive to that but it won't go.

I had it working once and that was with WM2003 A04.

Not sure if I lost this functionality since I upgraded to A05.

Can anyone help please,

Thanks heaps

I see two possibilities – a firewall on the PC or you left your Axim’s name on the default (Pocket_PC – the underscore and many other non-alphanumeric symbols will not work with M$ networks).

What have I not got right???

Hi Ike,

Well I doulbe checked and the device name has NO undescore, just letters from the alphabet.

My laptop is from work and I don't know if I have a firewall or not.

Can I find that out somewhere.
Funny thing is I had it working at one stage.
I then used \\computername\C$ but that gives me now the message as per the above.

I use wifi, and am not connected to the work network.

Hellllllllllllllllllllllllppppppppppppppppp

Which OS are you using on the PC. If it's XP, it comes with a firewall which may be enabled. I don't use it so it's been a while since I've had to get into it. Try the Windows help to see if you can find it but if you can't post back and I'll do some exploring.

You say you use WiFi but you are not connected to the network. That's kind of contradictory since WiFi is a network protocol. How are you 'using' WiFi?

ok

Thanks for your reply Ike,
When I say I am not linked to a network I mean the work LAN.

Here at home I just have my laptop and my Axim connected via (adhoc) Wifi.

Now, when i am connected to my ISP I can on my Axim surf the web, get email and active sync.

But no matter what I try, I cant see my c: although I had it working at one stage as described above.

I would just like to be able to get to my C: so that I can access my files and take them away with me.

Gerard
