Inbox Sync Problem Redux - Sorry
I am a new Axim user and love many parts of it.
I've read all of these threads and I either didn't understand exactly what to do, or it didn't work for me. Here's the details:
I have a Axim X5. I have ActiveSync 3.7.
I use Lotus Notes R5 and Cadenza 2.5
My computer is a Dell and I use Windows 2000 Professional.
It is connected to my computer via USB cable.
When I sync my Axim, everything syncs fine (calendar, contacts, access, etc) but the inbox. It says attention required with the following message:
Information Type Not Synchronized
Items of one or more information typs cannot be synchronized. Disconnect and reconnect your device. To view all error messages and dialog boxes that require your input, you must connect to this computer via infrared or serial/USB cable.
I don't know if the problem is in settings (which is now greyed out and I can't even access that), mismatched names or what. Please if you offer advice, assume I'm really really dumb and be detailed.
Thanks so much.

Inbox Sync Problem
I'm having the same problem, but when I try to check the inbox settings, I get an "out of memory" message from WCESmgr.exe. This on a P4 2.4 with 512 RAM!! I've tried re-installing ActiveSynch, but no success. Did you ever get a reply with suggested fixes?

I am replying to my own message, because no one replied to me. Here is how I fixed my own problem and maybe this will work for you. I uninstalled everything related to my Axim. I uninstalled the Activesync and the Credenza (mNotes), deleted all files and folders that remained and unplugged my sync cradle. I then installed the Activesync, plugged in the cradle to the USB port and prepared for the initial sync, BUT I unchecked all the boxes that asked to sync mail, contacts, favorites, calendar (anything that defaulted to Outlook). Then I installed Cadenza (mNotes 3.03 an upgraded install from v2.7) that seemed to fix my problems. I can read my email, sync my calendar and read my contacts.
I don't know about the "out of memory" problem, I'll look into it for you. But maybe if you start over again, like I did, use mNotes 3.03 and see if that works.

Do you use Mcaffee? Also, an addedum to my 2nd email, after I deleted everything, I did a hard reset to my Axim.

I am using MacAfee, but I would expect that to affect all the outlook functions, not just inbox. It did work before, but come to think of it, I did update the definitions, maybe that caused it, I'll try shutting off the McAfee next time...

Also try this. No guarantees it will work, but who knows. You may need to have Personal Firewall grant access to wcescomm.exe and WCESMgr.exe. If you chose to block access to either of these components during ActiveSync installation, perform the following steps:
1. Right-click the icon by your system clock, then click Personal Firewall, and then click View Summary.
The McAfee.Com Personal Firewall Plus window appears.
2. Click the Internet Applications icon on the left side of the window.
The Internet Applications information appears.
3. The Permissions column at the far right indicates which applications are Blocked. Click to select any blocked ActiveSync component (either wcescomm.exe or WCESMgr.exe).
4. Click Allow Full Access under the Change Permissions To... heading in the lower right of the Internet Applications window.
The permissions for the selected application change to Allow Full Access in the Permissions column.
5. Close the McAfee.Com Personal Firewall Plus window.
6. Restart your computer.

also, on a related note about Active Sync...I think the most current version is 3.7.1 But, if 3.7 is working for you, fine. But, if you encounter any problems you might want to upgrade to the 3.7.1 to see if that helps.

DID YOU START OVER AGAIN AND IN THE SPECIFIC ORDER? ORDER REALLY MATTERS.

Well, I followed your instructions correctly this time, completely uninstalling ActiveSynch and re-installing it, and we're back in business. Good thing too, because I can't turn off the anti-virus, it's locked by the network admin gods. Thanks for all your help. :p :D
