Hello everyone.this is my first post to the forum. I just got my axim and am having a little problem with active sync. when i try to run activesync i get the following error message: The folowing unrecoverable error has occured "THE MAPISVC.INF file is missing. I can clear the message and the axim will sync to my desktop ok. the green light on my ppc rotates and i can download programs ok. My problem is I cannot seem to get the pass through to work . Is the missing file my problem? I tried reinstalling active sync. It didn`t help. Thanks for your help. I enjoy this forum alot.

Microsoft article

Maybe that will help. It tells how to reinstall the mapisvc.inf file.

Another possible problem

I too encountered this same error. The microsoft help page descibes the situation perfectly, but they seem unsure of what the problem is. I am currently using a Compact ipaq until I get my Axim, and I found one site...

http://www.computing.net/pda/wwwboard/forum/327.html

which claims the problem is with ActiveSync not working with Outlook Express. This doesn't make sense considering their both MS products, oh wait...

It did point me in the right direction though. I unchecked inbox from the sync options and everything else synced just fine. However, no inbox :(

Activesync does NOT work with Outlook Express. It does work with Outlook. Outlook comes on the Dell CDROM, so if you didn't install it, you should. Even after that, Activesync still does not sync with Outlook Express, just Outlook.
