I went to play something today on Windows Media (nothing new) and the program won't initiate. I checked the Memory, there is 7.24 MB Storage free and 7.69 MB Program free. What else should I check? All my other programs appear to work. I have done a couple soft reboots to get Journal Bar to download the weather. Other than that - trouble free!?
Does the circle icon just keep spinning and spinning, with no end result? This has happened to many people after installing a certain program. Have you recently installed anything? If so, try uninstalling it first. If that still doesn't help, you can either do a hard reset and then manually reinstall everything (do not restore from a current backup or else you will have the same problem again) or edit your registry. Here is a thread with detailed instructions on the registry fix. Alternatively, if you have a backup from a time where your WMP was still working, you could do a hard reset and then restore with that one.
My Windows Media Player just stopped working. I am not running any of those today screen things. I click on it, the slot for the current task running (right next to the start button on the top of the screen) switches to Windows Media Player, then it switches back to what i had running before, or just start. I have tried running it without any programs running, I have 5.something program ram free, and I cannot get it to work. I am hoping I do not have to do a hard reset. I have tried soft reseting several times. I recently loaded on a few applications. To diagnose the problem I removed all my recently added apps, and it still does not work. Can anyone help???
It does not need to be a Today plugin. Myself and others had this problem with X-ten. If uninstalling doesn't help, then you may need to follow the above suggestions.
What is X-ten? I do not have anything on my device called X-ten. Also I am really not sure how to do what that thread said. It is rather confusing. Do I need any software to do this?

X-ten is an IP telephony application. Don't worry if you don't have it; however, other applications may result in the same problem for Windows Media Player. To edit the registry, you need a registry editor. However, if you are not familiar with this, I would suggest that you just perform a hard reset instead. However, don't bother restoring to a CURRENT backup since you will just have the same problem again. If you have an older backup that was made at a time when your player was working, you may restore to that. If not, just do a hard reset and then reinstall the programs one by one. You may also want to check to see if WMP is working after each installation to determine the offending application.
Well... I tried the fix everything worked right, sure enough I had the extra button. (There is a reason I am called geek65536 hee hee). Unfortunatelly I had already installed the older version of media player, not 7.* but just 8.0 instead of what comes loaded with the axim. Is there a way to get the one that comes loaded with the Axim back again? Or am I running an updated version? I dowloaded the one available on M$'s website. Is that the latest? I think I am running an older version of WMP now. I have got to learn to talk to Aximsite before I go do something stupid!:bang: Oh well. Let me know if there is anything I can do to fix it. Thank you for your help. :D
