Question Noob looking for some answers

Hi,

Im after some advice on the Axim.

let me first fill you in on some background info. I started looking at the Axim in a round about way. I was looking for a programable remote control for my AV system and was going to buy a Phillips Pronto. However, someone suggested an Axim running PDAwin. The price, colour screen and versitility seem to make the Axim an attractive option.

I would be looking to use the Axim (in this order) for;

- AV remote control (and x10 in the future)
- Wifi internet
- Wifi to control and browse PC
- Interfacing to Nokia 3650
- Any thing else that I may find useful in the future ;)

So my questions are

- No CF slot and only one SD - would this be a problem especialy if the SD was used for bluetooth to my 3650?
- Would I be better waiting for a bluetooth Axim?
- I have heard talk of connecting a USB Hard Drive for MP3s. Is this really possible and would this be done via SD or could it be done on a stand alone Axim?
- Is it possible to lock the Axim so that only one app can run? This is specificaly for when running the Remote Control software so my kids (8 & 10) can use it easily with out being confused by windows.
- Any other issues I should be aware of?

So I have thought that the Axim x3i would suit my requirements but before I spend my hard earned cash, I would like some advice from those who already have one.

Thanks in advance

Duncs

Maybe an X5 would be a better choice. It doesn't have built in WiFi, but you can add WiFi and Bluetooth CF cards for your wireless control. This would still leave the SD slot open for memory cards. The SD slot isn't SDIO on the X5, so just memory cards there.

You can also use PCMCIA microdrives with a PCMCIA-to-CF adaptor.

I haven't heard of any way to lock the device to one app.

Thanks,

I think i'm still edging towards the X3i as I would always want Wifi enabled and I guess I couldn't run Bluetooth CF at the same time as Wifi CF. The other thing is im not too sure about having to install a remote extender on the X5.
