Hi All,

My husband and I just order a pair of Axims for each of us. I have question while waiting for them to arrive. We have a W2K computer at home that we are planning to synch to. We both have separate user profiles set up on the machine, so that each of us is using our own desktop. Will each of us be able to sync to our own desktop/instance of outlook etc? So that when I'm logged in to the computer as me II can synch my Axim to my outlook calander etc, and when my husband is logged in, he will sysnch to his own desktop/outlook calander? I'm guessing/hoping that we will be able to but, I would like to ask if anyone has experience with this...I guess its like hot sysnching multiple palm pilots to the same computer...thanks

Mahalo!

I don't see why this wouldn't work. I believe that Outlook in Win2k establishes separate PST files in each user profile.

I believe you will each have to install Acvtive Sync from within your user logon, so you will each have to have admin rights for the process to work. This can be set temporarily beforehand, and restored to your typical user status later.

Concerning your question on "pointing it to a user profile", I don't think you will have to do anything. Each of you should be able to sync after logging on to your respective accounts. Outlook will simply load the PST file for the person that is logged on.

As far as installing Activesync on each profile, that's a good point. I have a WinXP machine with separate logons for me and my wife (both are set up as admins). I installed Activesync under my profile for use with my Axim. I have never checked to see if Activesync loads when she logs on (she does not use a PPC), but I don't think that it does.

If it does not, you may not have to install again, but simply copy the Activesync shortcut from the Startup menu of one profile, to the Startup menu of the other. Just make sure you have different names for your Axims and Activesync will sync each PPC separately. I know this will work because I can still sync my iPAQ (for sale by the way!) and my Axim on the same machine with no confusion on Activesync's part.

You can always download the latest version of Activesync, install it, and see how it operates. Then you will be ready to go when your Axims arrive.

Thanks for your answers, i need to clarify alittle here about what I meant about pointing to a different profile/file. I have created a personal folders file ( PST ) file that I open in outlook. I'd like the Axim to synch to this personal file folder, not the default outlook.pst file that is created by default. Can active synch do this?

Mahalo again!

Activesync should sync with whatever PST file Outlook is set to use, whether it is the default, or one that you've created.
