screen is haywire

my axim screen has all these black and colored verticle lines that show up when I turn it on, and does not show what should be displayed. I tried a hard reset and that did not fix the problem. There is no visible break in glass or lcd, and the axim looks normal when it is turned off.

WHAT IS WRONG with my Axim? :verySad:

I think you may have a messed up digitizer (SCREEN) or a messed up software load on the axim. I would call dell and try to get a replacement.

You have a full replacement guarantee for a new one within 30 days. Replacement with a refurbished one for a year after the first 30 days.

Yes tell them it shipped that way, and call ASAP. Because then they'll believe you. If you get a replacement, you'll get a new one in the mail and a person will come to your door with a box and shipping so they will take care of bringing your old dell back to the company.

that's reassuring.
I just got done reading EVERY thread with a reference to a broken or nonfunctional screen when I did a title search for "screen"- 20 pages of search results. No one had my problem, and I had seen several cases where dell said "too bad" to someone wanting a replacemnt for an axim with screen damage.

Thank God for the 30 days full replacement garantee then.

Black striped screen, no more warranty...

I have an X30 that has given me the black screen with very thin vertical white and red random stripes. I started with a soft reset several times, hard reset several times, and let the battery run down and completely recharged it. No blotches on the screen when off either. I cannot ever recall dropping it, but of course, the extended warranty I purchased ran out two months prior to this problem. I even disassembled the unit, checked for broken connections or visible cracks, and took of the ribbon connectors and made sure they were tight. No change. HELP! I have a 624 and purchased a used 312 on eBay hoping I can replace the screen, but I am not sure it is the screen. Any tips or advice, or potential buyers of the remaining parts I will have???
