smartphone vs. pocket pc phone edition

Simply: what's the difference? As far as I can tell, it's just form factor. What am I missing here?

Pocket Pc phone has the same software and operating system. The only difference is that it has slower performance and it is very large. I would reccommend just getting a PDA and a seperate cell phone.

if money is no object, check out the TREO 600-Although it is palm based, the reviews are overwhelmingly positive.

They do have different OS and form factor. I have used both, and would use them for different things. A Smartphone is a great cell with good functions as a PDA, a PPC Phone is a great PDA with with good to poor functions as a cell. I got the Smartphone because my Ax is a better PPC than any combo PPC Phone out there.

The Smartphone OS is designed around the fact that is doesn't use a touch screen. I think it is kind of limited as a PDA, but great since I use it as a phone. The web browsing on it is actually pretty great to.

not everyone wants two seperate devices when they can spend less money on a single device that suits their needs.

my next PPC device will most likely be a smartphone. no need to pay for a hotspot subscription or even search for a hotspot when i want to check my email. all i have to do is dial in with the all-in-one unit. the way smartphones have been going just recently, there may not be too much difference in them in the coming year. as long as you don't mind the smaller screen.
