Resco picture viewer is free on the CD that comes with the Axim, and it works very well. It also has a screen capture app to take stills from your vids or any of the display screens. Pretty hard compression, though.

fyi...i've been using picture perfect for almost a month now. I picked it up for free from CompUSA after MIR.

I loaded Resco Picture Viewer tonight and have already uninstalled Picture Perfect.

Resco Picture Viewer blows the doors off of Picture Perfect.

I can now create slide shows to mp3 files without the tracks skipping. I can specify the orientation of each slide in my show in more ways than i thought possible. Plus there is a ton of options I havent even explored yet.

Go with Resco. You wont be sorry....not to mention it came free with your Axim.

:rolling: I think I downloaded Resco Picture Viewer from the CD OK, but I can't find it on the Axim. Can someone suggest what I might be doing wrong? Thank you. -- Brad

Open File Explorer, go to My Device\ProgramFiles and look for a RESCO folder.

Getting photos into the Axim

I'm unable to figure out how to get photos stored inside my computer transfered into the Axim. The instuctions don't match what I get on the screen. Thanks to Mike, I can now find the Resco folder, which contains RCapture and RPicView. I assume I use RCapture, which brings up a screen, "Capture IT!" -- "Switch to desired application and press a button to capture screen." -- "After 10s" or "Now" Here I'm lost. -- Brad

You know what assume means? You want RPicView. When you get to the main screen tap on the help icon and that will get you started. Resco is not as easy to use as some of the others but it is the best. good luck

Brad....

In order to get your photos on your Axim, you can do one of two things:

1. While your Axim is in the cradle, click on the "Explore" button. This will open up a File Viewer-type view of the documents on your Axim.

2. Open up the folder your pictures are in on your PC, and drag the files from that folder to your Axim folder.

3. If you would prefer them to go on one of your storage cards if you have them, once you have opened the first window into your Axim, double click on the "My Pocket PC" icon. Once there you will see your cards and the folder structure on the Axim. Copy the files you want to the card you want them to go to. I would suggest creating a specific folder on the card you are copying to so you have one place for them to go.

Another way to accomplish this task is to make sure you are syncing files to your Axim:

1. In the ActiveSync window, click on "Options."

2. Select the "Files" option, which will create a folder on your desktop and in your My Documents folder.

3. Copy any files you want to that folder, and they will synchronize to the My Documents folder on your Axim.

Remember that by this method, your files are saving to your main memory.

FYI - RCapture is to grab screen shots from your Axim so you can post them somewhere else or paste them into other documents.

Let me know if I can clarify this any more.

Brad,

To get pictures on your axim from your computer you can use the file explorer (clicking the explore button in active sync). Find the folder you want to put the picture in and leave it open. Then use the computers file explorer (use a different window than the one that's open) and go to "my pictures" (or whatever folder your pictures are in on your computer). Then just click and drag the files from "my pictures" to the directory you want them in on your axim (like a card or internal memory). I also love just popping the SD card from my digital camera right into my axim cause it's a better view than the 1" screen on my camera. Hope that helped.

I sure do appreciate all this this help, but it's like I'm using a different machine:

Gabe: "To get pictures on your axim from your computer you can use the file explorer (clicking the explore button in active sync)."

There is no explore button on my Active Sync screen.

Windwalker: "1. While your Axim is in the cradle, click on the "Explore" button. This will open up a File Viewer-type view of the documents on your Axim."

I clicked on "File Explorer" It does open up a File Viewer-type view of the documents on my Axim

Windwalker: 2. Open up the folder your pictures are in on your PC, and drag the files from that folder to your Axim folder.

I can't find anything on my computer looking at the Axim screen. Under "My Device" it lists:
Built-inn storage
My Documents
Program Files
Temp
Windows
mdmlog2
mdmlog3

Windwalker: "Another way to accomplish this task is to make sure you are syncing files to your Axim:

1. In the ActiveSync window, click on "Options."

2. Select the "Files" option, which will create a folder on your desktop and in your My Documents folder.

Under Tools > "Options" in the ActiveSync window, I don't get a "File" option.

I'm sure there's something I'm doing wrong, but for the life of me I can't figure out what it is. :rolling:

Thanks for your patience.

Wait. I think I see my problem. I've been attempting to do all of these operations on the Axim screen, when they should be done on the Microsoft ActiveSync screen on my PC. ;)

Brad, You Should have 3 icons about one inch down(from the top) on the second line of the activesync pc window, they will be labeled Details,Explore and Options. If you do not have this, something is wrong.
