PHM Registry Editor doesn't install

I can't seem to install PHM Registry Editor.

PHM Registry Editor is here

Has anyone had more luck than I did?

If not, what would be a flexible and powerful regeditor?

Which installer did you download? If you downloaded the CAB for ARM you'll need to copy it the the Axim and install it from there, if you get the MSI installer, you need to have ActiveSync running and connected and launch the installer from the PC.
I have it installed and it runs fine.
Hope this helps.

The MSI doesn't work for the Aixm (tried all morning). Just copy the ARM .cab file onto your Axim and execute it.

From my desktop I used the XP explorer interface to navigate to:
MobileDevice|MyPocketPC|Temp

then did a cut & paste with the .cab file (already saved on my desktop HD)

Next, use the File Explorer on the Axim to navigate (up) to MyDevice|Temp, tap & hold on the .cab file, and (install/execute/whatever). The cab file insalled and auto-deleted after installation.

Royal PITA, but it does work. Good thing I found this thread, though, as there isn't a version for Xscale (and newbies like me don't know to use the ARM version).

Which (or all) of these do I copy onto the Axmi and 'install'?

PHM Reg Editor

OK, I know I'm dim but..
I've downloaded and copied regedit.Mrln_ARM.cab from the PHM site to my Axim.
When I tap and hold I only get the 'normal' file options (cut/copy/rename/delete etc). No 'execute/install/whatever' options. Clues?

you want regedit.Mrln_ARM.CAB
This is for the Merlin Pocket PCs, or Windows CE 3/Pocket PC 2002. When you copy it over to your axim, you do not tap and hold, just tap. It will begin installation right away. I'm not sure where I found the names for the different versions of Windows CE, but If I find them, I will post them here.

I have found that the registry editor that comes with the Resco File Manager works very well. And, of course, you get a great file manager! One would have thought that after all the different versions of Windows CE, Microsloth could make a decent file manager program.

FYI

Here are the Microsoft Windows CE Codenames, just for a reference. It lists every CE name in CE History, right down to a certain tool kit or build of a CE version, and lists what device introduced it (in the left most column)

Here is the site I found.

http://www.cewindows.net/wce/versions.htm

Rather interesting stuff
