No, I don't think you should use alcohol to clean the screen. Use a microfiber cloth, like for glasses, if you just want to get dust and fingerprints off. Other than that, they sell screen cleaning kits for PDAs.

I had to once because I put the wrong kind of stuff on the screen and when I took it off the sticky stuff stayed. No damage but that was probably more luck than anything else.
I've used those pre-moistened alcohol prep pads on every PDA I've owned, with no ill-effect. They are usually fairly wet, right out of the pack, so I just squeeze them damp, first. They work fine.
I also use regular tissue, or my shirt for quick smudge removal......and I don't and never have used screen protectors.
The only scratches I've ever got were miniscule and invisible with the screen on and only visible with the screen off and held at just the right angle.
Daily use, in a not always pristine environment.......and that can be read as "often dusty"......gritty, concrete dust.

definately do NOT use alcohol on the screen. since the screens are a form of acrylic, you should only use approved (nonabrasive) cleaners or a very damp cloth. anything else will cause the screen to get a milky look over time.
You have your's and mine is as stated. 5 years of PDAs, 5 different PDAs, used alcohol wipes on every one of 'em, and they're all crystal clear to this day.
I know they still are 'cause I still have every one of 'em.

denatured alcohol should be fine, isopropyl alcohol shouln't be used. acetone would be super bad it will melt your screen. a little dishsoap should do a good job. Most cleaning kits I have seen use denatured alcohol and a detergent for the cleaning solution. but as with anything if you want to be sure use something specifically designed for cleaning it.
great site guys! glad I found it.
so no rubbing alcohol? What is denatured alcohol? I'm going to clean my screen before applying those protectors

Damn! Hit the wrong quote button.
Alcohol and ammonia are know products for making acrylic hazy and milky. It is not a matter of opinion, it is a fact regardless of how lucky you have been.
