New Axim User Reporting in!
Well, I am a long time PalmOS user that has now moved to PPC.

It was Dell that did it! They met my two criteria in a PDA that would make me switch: good battery life and reasonable price

After I did some research (including going to a Dell Kiosk to play w/ the Axim for a good long while), I ordered an Axim. Whilst waiting, I started to wonder about the other PPCs. I figured since I had committed myself to PPC thus far, I should look around some. I started to like the HP 5455 (aka 5450). Well, it was a bit rich for my blood, so I found an open box buy on a Toshiba e740. I explained to the manager and the salesperson that I was going to purchase it, try it, and if it did not suit my needs, I was going to return it in a few days. They were fine with that. I ended up returning it one or two days later... I did not like it at all.

Well, now I have sitting in front of me an HP 5455 and a Dell Axim. They both arrived the same day on the same truck! Where I bought the HP was well aware that I would be returning it if it did not suit my needs.

My plans were:

1) If I liked the Dell, I would ask my business partner if he wanted the HP. If he did not, I was going to send the HP back, keep the Dell, and order another Dell for him.

2) If I liked the HP, I would give my business partner the Dell and I would keep the HP.

I tried them both out, switching back and forth. I must say the HP is a very nice PPC. It almost had me when I tried the Dell for a final time. I must say, I am hooked on the Dell!

I like the screen better, the way it feels and operated, the looks, and (of course) the price

Although the HP is awesome, I must admit that the only thing that would make the Dell preferable in form factor over the HP would be a flip case like the cheap one that comes with the HP.

In any event, I have decided to keep the Dell for myself...

If anyone ever finds a place to get a flip cover like is with the HP or on the Palm m515, please drop me a reply here or an email

I am now Dell PPC and will not look back.

Sorry such a long post, but, it just about says it all. Dude, I got a Dell!

BTW: I followed a lot of threads on forums about weaknesses, bugs, etc of the HP 5455 (aka 5450) and the Toshiba e740. I also will probably have the HP here on my desk for about a week, so if anyone has any questions of that variety, I would be glad to answer the best I can.
