Worried Backup Ax to pc

Well, I feel like an idiot.

Last night I found a thread telling about backing up the Ax to your pc. Great and simple instructions. OK, I hooked up, backed up (took about half hour) and now everything is on pc....somewhere. I used default location, but how the heck do I find it?

I ran a search on this site to find the original instructions and can't even find that thread.

BTW, I tried RTFM and that wasn't much help.

This site is the best (way better than Dell's rude bunch), so hopefully you can help me!

Search for *.stg. Usually it's defaulted to Backup.stg, but a search for *.stg should find it. It's in the Activesync/profiles directory, wherever that in on your PC.

The backup file should be something like Documents and Settings\(User)\Application Data\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles\(ID Name)\Backup.stg .
I doubt if this is a file you can read.

So, I guess it doesn't really matter if I can find it or read it? As long as I can do a restore in case of crash or need to do hard reset...right?

Yes, it's just the recovery data file. You'd restore it to read it.
