New Ipaq!!

Now before you guys flame me to death for posting a Ipaq in an Axim forum i just want you to know that i visit this site because you guys have a ton of stuff about everything i want to know. You guys are Great!

Anyway I finally got my Ipaq 2215 this christmas and it is great. It has awsome sound and can play games nicely. My only gripe is that there is a stuck on all white pixil almost in the middle of the screen. But I only really notice it in games.

My real question is do any of you know why sometimes when I turn off my Ipaq on the sync cradle it shuts off my mouse? Its done it twice when I was posting hear. It doesnt make me mad, Ill just take it out of the cradel next time but has this happened to anybody else; Axim or Ipaq?

Thankx

One thing that I forgot to mention before. What it the bast way to take care of the battery? I've been charging it full then running it completly down. After a few time of that can i charge it whenever all the time after that? I dont want to ruin a $100 battery buy charging it wrong and haveing it creat a memory.

Thankx

Don't run it down completely. Li-ion batterys do not have a memory effect (like the NiCADs did). It's better for Lithium batteries to be kept as fully charged as you can. You can get thousands of shallow recharges but only a few hundred deep ones. They have built in circuitry that will keep them from being overcharged, so I keep mine plugged in whenever I have a powersource available.

As for your mouse problem - it sounds like a driver or IRQ conflict. I don't have a solution although I have seen the problem mentioned before. A search might bring something up for you to try.

There were also posts a long time ago about being able to "massage" a dead pixel back to life by gently rubbing the area with your stylus. It's worked for some people.

BTW, there is a 'sister' site for iPaqs - iPaqHQ. While AximSite is much larger (been around a lot longer), many of the same people are involved over there so if you have iPaq specific questions, come on by.

You have to register again but you should be able to use the same user name.

When I was reading through the instructions material that came with my HP laptop, it said to make sure the battery is below 50% before recharging the battery, then charging it until it is at 100% full, that is to get maximum performance out of the battery.

I agree with aviationwiz. My Sony VAIO laptop manual says the same thing and I get about 2 hrs 50 minutes on a full charge on the laptop.

I think a lot of those instructions for discharging batteries are leftover from the Ni-CAD days. Everything I've read on Li-ion tells the exact opposite except, some indicate an occasional deeper discharge can help reset the circuitry on the battery which gets out of calibration. Even this is a different problem from the Ni-CAD memory problem since it is reversable with the discharge.

thankx for the info guys.

But one more question. For those of you who have tried "massaging" the dead pixles, how hard do you push? do you just gently rub the pixle or do you press untill you get the swirly color change like when you touch soft laptop screens or calculator sceens?
