Mysterous Icon File????

Just recently, a file has turned up in my Games folder named "icon". It's hidden in File Explorer unless I select "View All Files", and when i delete it, the special Games folder icon turns back into a generic folder. How do I fix this???????

Could you explain how you did this?
I found the same strange "icon" file and deleted it, and now my Games folder is a standard folder icon....

TIA

Although this process looks very tedious, it should only take 10 minutes MAX.

To get the icon file back, do a backup on everything and then do a hard reset. Browse to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Games\ and select File Explorer to show all files. Copy the icon file over to an SD or CF card (some terms of file storage that won't be deleted when you restore your backup) and then restore your backup.

Do a soft reset and download the free Airscanner Mobile AntiVirus, which includes a task manager. I opened Airscanner, and then acessed the "Process Manager", and ended all processes that the program would let me end. Then I did a soft reset, and the icon file was back to normal.
:D

Just curious why you guys felt the need to delete this file?

Programs create files all the time that they need to function properly, they create Folders too, that sometimes only have files in them when they are actually running, but they need those folders in order to run.

Can someone just post this mystery file?
...would be a lot quicker than starting over with a hard reset...

TIA

Heart Thank You!!!!!!!

Thank you, pcwhiz78, for making my day!

I deleted the file too (that's what i get for thinking i know enough about computers to mess around with stuff like that), and i found lots of threads on this site with suggested solutions...none of which worked!

I thought of trying your approach before I found this thread, but I didn't think it would work, since nothing else I tried did.

Finally, I gave in and did it. Worked like a charm! Now I've learned to back up my data periodically, so that if something like this happens again, I won't have to go crazy trying to fix it.

Granted, I know it's alot of work for a little icon on a folder, but I just hate knowing that I made a mistake that I cannot fix...

Thank you again! :approve:

p.s. --> johnm356, posting the file probably won't help...someone else did that, and it fixed the problem for one person, but it didn't work for me...
