Hello, all! Another Newbie here, 1st time PDA user of any type. I'm really glad this forum exists. It's great.

My wife wanted to get me a PDA for Christmas, but didn't know where to start, so she told me to pick it out, :D but that I couldn't have it until Christmas. So, rumor has it that I've got a 400 Mhz Axim sitting under the tree calling my name. Talk about torture!

In the meantime, I've been busy researching all I can, and I've even downloaded some programs and .tsk files to use when the time comes. I even found a couple of great deals on a 128 CF card and 128 meg SD card. So here's my question. How should I use these cards simultaneously? The SD for programs, and the CF for files, or pictures, or in what combination? Eventually, I think I'll be relying on the SD card, because I want to get a wireless CF adapter to use on my wireless LAN at home. But for now, I've got two memory storage cards, how should I use them to maximize my Axim? ;)

I would put applications and their data on the same card. That way, if you have to remove the card for some reason, the app and data goes together. You don't have idle data taking up space with no app to access it, or an app with no data. Put optional stuff on the CF card, as it is more likely to be removed. Put the "keepers" on the SD card, leave it in the slot most, if not all, of the time. I put the really nice to have stuff in Built-In Storage so that it's with me even if the cards are both out.

Of course, it is really up to you. You will have lots of flexibility.

Thanks, Jake! That makes sense. I guess it will all come together once I can actually get my hands on my Axim!!! Merry Christmas!

Let's see, it's under the tree. That means you can open at midnight Christmas Eve. 2 maybe 3 minutes to rip open the box, get it plugged in. Let's say 2.5 hours to charge. Hmm, you'll be on the board about 2:34 am Christmas day with either a question or comment. I won't meet you here, but I'll check back Christmas Day after breakfast! :D

Merry Christmas!

Hey Haxim,

I'm in the same boat you are - my wife is "surprising" me with an Axim for Christmas, even though I picked it out and ordered it. She let me open the box and look at it, since I "wanted to make sure everything I ordered was there" :) Can't play with it until Christmas tho...

See you on here Christmas day, I'm sure :)

Got my toy about 12/19....

The SMP gee whiz workstation and all the other PC's are idling while playing with the Dell.

No complaints... Been doing PC's for 25 years.... have less than 30 days experience with PDA's

Have learned a couple of interesting things on this site - like removing the film from the screen protectors, Doh!
:D
