I was just wondering if I would now need to purchase a storage/momory (whatever it's called) card for my Axim X3i. I only loaded onto it 6 songs, 3 pictures (small sized) and a game. I was about to download another song and it said that I don't have enough free memory left. It says i have 5.89MB free. I didn't know that what I downloaded ate up so much space. I still would like to download a few programs and possibly files from DVD ( if I can ever figure out how to do it) So, if I should purchase one of these cards, with size would be best for me to get?
I was searching Dell's website and they have too different cards tahta re available. The first one is the SANDISK
256 MB Secure Digital Card and the second one is the SANDISK
256 MB CompactFlash Card. Are these cards good and will they hold ALOT of memory? Also, which on would you perfer for my AVIM x3i.
The Axim X3i only supports SD, so the Sandisk 256MB SD card is good for you. If you want to save some money, check out the memory bargains forum for discounts and sales on memory.
I don't believe the X3i can use a CF card, so that's out. And, at least on the X5, there have been significant issues with Sandisk SD cards. I don't know if these are also issues with the X3i or not.
Yes, you need a (ha! several!) storage card, Secure Digital for the X3i. Don't get less than 128 MB and try for a 256MB if you can afford it. I have Lexar, Kingston, and PNY which are all working well with my Axim (X5, though).
X3s will only take Secure Digital (SD) Cards. And it might be best to steer away from SanDisk, though I haven't heard a whole lot bad about them recently, they didn't fair too well with the X5s, early on.
The best seem to be Panasonic, Toshiba, Lexar and possibly Kingston. Be forewarned, you do pay a premium for the name here, but you get what you pay for, too.
Search on eBay, you should get some good deals...and in this post-holiday shopping spree, you might find some pretty cheap at Brick & Mortar stores, too.
Shop around, patience will get you a good deal.

ebay is another good place to get a great deal on an SD card. just make sure they are in their original packaging and come from a reputable seller. i got two 256meg Panasonic cards off ebay and they have worked great. paid $63 each
Thank you all for the great suggestions. It is greatly appreciated. I will try out some of the above places before making my purchase. I rather shell out a few extra bucks for a better card than stick with the basics. I checked out Best Buy today and they had a 256 MB memory card, not sure what kind, but it was over $200. I'm not spending that much if I can find something just as good cheaper. Thansk again.
I think I might have found a deal. A Kingston 256 MD SD memory card for $65.99. As that a good deal. Also, as I look they have a 512 MB card. Is that a better card to get. The price on that one is $150.99. Thansk for directing me to the other forumn with thee memory card discounts.
You might also want to learn how to down-sample your music files so they take up less memory. I can't tell you how to do that as I don't use Windows. Should be some instructions in the Multimedia forum.

IMHO you can never have too much memory! I haven't run into the same issues as some of my compatriots with SanDisk and I have a couple. I have a couple of "generic" cards too. I recommend you buy at least 256MB cards of whatever type you need. A typical song for me is about 3meg. Some of my spreadsheets and C++ programs are a few meg a piece and then its really suprising how fast 200k or so note files add up. Throw in pictures at a couple of meg each, as well as GPS maps, and you can eat up a 64 or 128 Meg SD or CF card pretty fast.
I went shopping today looking for memory cards and all the stores had were Sandisk cards and Fuju cards. Both were the same price. The guy wanted to give me a deal on 2 of the 256 MB cards because there were out of the 512 MB cards. He was gonna give me a discount of $169 for both. I refused though because I told him I heard bad things about Sandisk. The guy explained that SanDisk was top of the line. I still refused the offer. I heard enough bad things here about Sandisk to stay far far away from that brand. Is Fuji also a brand to saty away from?
Now whats up with all the bashing of Sandisk Cards? I purchased a 128mb Sandisk SD card along with my Axim X3i from Dell and have had NO problems whatsoever with it. It also works fine with my Pny SD/MMC card reader. The issues were with X5s and DO NOT apply to us X3ers. Correct me if i'm wrong but I believe that Sandisk is the industry leader in SD cards.
