More trouble with synch and storage issues.. plesae help please
ActiveSync3.6. Most times when I synchronize for contacts/ calender (or any other synch for that matter), I receive Attention Required and to resolve items... When i click resolve items i get the follow error:
Information Type not Synchronized
Items of one or more information types cannot by synchronized. Disconnect and reconnect your device.
To view all error messages and dialog boxes that require your input, you must correnct to this computer via infrared or serial/USB cable.
Reconnecting the axim doesn't solve anything. Sometimes my items get checked/synchronized properly, but mostly not. For testing purposes I haven't modified any contacts in the axim.
DOES ANYONE HAVE A SOLUTION FOR THIS?!?
Also, I bought a 128MB SD card to hold my documents. I'd like all my documents/folder (about 70mb) to be synchronized in the SD card as the axim has very limited space. I don't want to manually transfer each file whenever something gets modified. Currently the synch puts all files in my documents folder(axim). How do i change this setting so it goes directly to the SD and not my documents folder(axim)?!?!
I'm running winxp pro, outlook sp1, active synch 3.6
Please help.

Activesync: On the Desktop, disable syncing whatever is causing the conflicts. Let it sync successfully. Disconned the Ax. Reboot the PC, Soft reset the Ax. Now open Activesync on the PC, reselect the items you deselected. Now put the Ax in the cradle. It should sync.
If that fails, take the Ax out of the cradle, open Activesync on the PC. Go to Options, Rules and select either "Always replace the item on my device," or "Always replace the item on this computer." Put the Ax in the cradle. Let it sync. Open Activesync on the desktop and go to Options, Rules, select "Leave the item unresolved."
On this second approach, the Always replace the item on my device will force an overwrite of whatever is in the Ax with whatever is on the PC. The Always replace the item on this computer will reverse that forcing. Pick whichever you think is accurate for you.

How do I synch my documents to go straight into my SD card instead of using the axim's memory?
I can do it manually but that's not very desirable. I'm sure others must have had this problem. I have about 70MB in documents therefore moving the files from the axim memory to SD isn't possible.

Don't use sync to move files to the Ax, it's slow and you have no control.
Open Activesync, Explore on the PC and a window will open showing the \My Documents folder on the Ax. Navigate that window to the SD or CF card and folder you want as the destination.
Now open your explorer on the desktop itself and navigate to where the files are you want to move. Drag and drop them from the PC window to the Axim window. You may get a message about files that need conversion that is normal. Let the file transfer go and the files will be moved.
It's faster and you get to put them where you want to.

I thought the purpose of synch was that everything would be done for you automatically. I work on many documents and it would be tiresome to move documents manually to the axim. I would forget which ones to import, and ultimately wouldn't be very pracical to me.. activesynch is though. Isn't there a manner or even program that will allow me to do this? I thought this was the whole point in buying a SD or CF card: more room for documents and such. But activsynch doesn't accomodate synching to the SD. I'm very disappointed.

Thanks, that is exactly what i've been looking for!
Although $6 purchase isn't very much, i'm not exactly content because this is a kind of option microsoft should have seriously included in activesynch to begin with.
I'd hate to pay $6 now and learn tomorrow a new version of activesynch addresses this option... anyways, it's a must for me.
Thanks

For what it's worth, just look at the problems people have with getting good ole regular Active Sync to work, where it takes care of everything.
There is a slight danger to using this extra power ... such as hard reseting your unit and then docking it, and accepting the old partnership. Suddenly ALL your files that you were syncing in main memory are updated to the latest versions ... the ones that you just deleted from the Axim by reseting! Poof.
Find out what happens if you sync to a file on your SD card, and then dock the unit with the card not installed.
I only point out this program because it exists, not because I endorse it. I have never used it myself.

Sounds like an endorsement to me! ;)
BTW, Jake -- your tips worked. I was having the same issue with "attention required" for my outlook Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, and Notes. I followed your advise the first part) and it worked. Thanks a bunch! :D
I'm still having a problem where it says "x items not synchronized" for Tasks, MS Money, and Avantgo for some reason. Any ideas?

Real Frustrated!
I have been reading all the threads on this problem - getting the "Attention Required" message when TRYING to synch. I have tried many of the solutions offered - some have worked for a while, but I am still trying to find a solution that will work more than once.
On person suggested renaming the MAPI32.DLL file and then running FIXMAPI.EXE and rebooting. That worked and allowed me to synch ONCE, then it failed again. It is a solution, if I am willing to recreate this file every time I synch - not necessarilly a lomgterm solution.
I tried to synch without options, reboot, and try again with the options - did not work.
I made a copy of the Pocket_PC2003 directory that was under Documents and Settings and put it under the My Documents directory - that worked once, then failed again.
I can reboot, disconnect, change sych options (always repace the item...) until I am blue in the face and still can't seem to get it to synch consistantly.
I have a Axim X-5
I use Outlook 2002
System is Win XP Pro
oops - I forgot to mention that I am trying to synch Calendar, Contacts and Tasks. No mail.
Any suggestions out there??
1/24/04 update - I tried the renaming of the mapi32.dll/fixmapi solution again. This time I kept a copy of the mapi32.dll in another directory and after I had synched once, I copied it over to my Windows directory. Now I have NO problems synching, but my Eudora is upset that it can no longer rename that file (Iget an error message each time I launch my email, but I get all my messages so I don;t have a problem with that). Hmmmm....wonder if Eudora was the culprit all along? Anyhow, I am synching wonderfully and thought that might help someone having the same issue....Mar
