outlook trouble

Everytime I sync or try and open outlook i get a message saying that OUTLOOK.exe has caused error and will be closed by windows and a error log has been created.

Someone on another board suggested I try running it off the disk...I think I did that right but still no luck. Anyone else have suggestions for me? If it matters I have the 400mhz axim

thanks

This is a Windows pb unrelated to the Ax. Did you have Outlook running before you bought your Ax? Did you get any of those "oh so useful" warnings during the Outlook or Active Synch install? The best installation sequence is Outlook, then Active Synch, then your Ax partnership. Check the Microsoft site for upgrades. (I run Win 2K SP3). There are also service packs and updates for Office applications -- go to microsoft.com and follow the links.

You could try uninstalling Active Sync, then uninstalling Outlook and reinstalling. Before you remove Outlook, take a copy of your ".PST" file. This is the Outlook database. You can put it back after you reinstall Outlook. Mine is in C:\Documents and Settings\<user logon>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook.

One last idea -- are you connecting your Ax through a hub? Some hubs are better than others. You might try connecting directly to your PC, at least as a test.

I was running outlook before but it was a newer version of outlook w/ no problems. I did look for upgrades but I don't really know what I'm looking for and I can't find my own error log. I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything several time w/ no luck.
