You can backup using the built in backup program. When you select the backup program it will have a pull-down menu with the available places to backup too. And you will be able to change the backup name. I use the date. You can also restore the backup, and choose the one you want to use. You can also backup using Active-Sync.

I do exactly what you do Joel. I use the current date for the backup file name.

When I choose backup, the only place listed to backup to is "Built-in Storage". Is there a way to backup the contents to the PC?

You should also have the SD Card or CF card listed as places to backup to on the pull-down menu. Active-Sync will allow backup to the PC.

Another option would be to try Backup Plus. It will place a backup file on either your PC or on the CF/SD Card. It backs up everything and creates and executable file. Recently when I upgraded my ROM, I was able to execute the backup file on my SD card and everything was back onto my Axim.

I am not sure what the built in program is capable of but I can say Backup Plus has proven itself to me.
