Happy New Year, everybody! I got my Axim on Christmas, and I've been playing with it eve since. I've learned a bunch just trying new things, and I still have lots of questions, but learning it all is half the fun!

I've got Active Synch working flawlessly on my home computer, using my cradle. I would like to use my second cable to connect to my work computer. I don't want to synch email on both machines, but I would like to be able to copy files to my CF card for tranferrring back and forth from work and home.

A couple of days ago, I read somewhere the topic on how to connect to two desktops, but I can't remember where I saw that article. It's not in the Axim users manual anywhere. Can anyone tell me where I saw that information? Or what the proper procedure is to connect one Axim to two desktops?

Thanks.

I have the same issue and what I have found out is using ActiveSync you can not sync the inbox with more than one machine. You can sync a file folder but not the inbox. If someone does know a way please let me know.

I got my Axim for Christmas too, and I have the setup you describe. You will need to install ActiveSync on both machines. Be sure to make sure that you don't select email synchronization, because that will mess you up. Also, you probably don't want Server synchronization = that's where I messed up the first time, so I can't give you clean instructions (sorry). I've transferred files using the "explore" feature of ActiveSync.

Good Luck, and have fun!

Ok, for my situation. I don't care about sync'ing email, but I do want to sync my Outlook Contacts, Outlook Calendar, Outlook Tasks. Can I do this without issues if I install ActiveSync on both?

Yes, you can. When you establish the partnerships you will be asked if the machine you are connected to is the ONLY one to sync, answer no and you will be able to establish partnerships with a second machine. I sync from my work laptop to the Axim to my home desktop every day. By using categories I can keep some items separated to specific machines. I also use mNotes to sync with my work Lotus Notes system so I actually have 4 sets of calendars, contacts, to-do lists.

I'm doing this (2 PCs, 2 partnerships, 1 Axim) but Tasks don't seem to synchronize properly. I consistently have a problem with tasks marked as complete in Outlook that are not displayed that way in the Axim (and vice versa). This seems most prevelent with recurring tasks but it happens with single occurence tasks as well.

I've also tried to categorize taks to separate home tasks from work tasks but Active sync seems to just ignore my categories and syncs everything.

Any one have any suggestions?

I have a lot of problems getting recurring tasks to sync correctly between two desktops. Everthing else is working ok except that.

Here's my setup: on both PCs in ActiveSync I have it set to sync "All tasks" - you may want to check this in your set up. I believe that once you mark a task complete it is no longer "active", so if you're only syncing "active" tasks it will sync to mark complete on the first PC, but then won't sync on the second PC. (I may be wrong here, but two of my buddies are having this exact same problem and this is all we've been able to figure out).

One thing I've noticed with the recurring tasks is that there is a begin date for the recurrence. This seems to get out of whack between the two desktops when syncing and seems to be the root of my problems. It gets updated on one PC (the one where the task is first marked complete or first synced as complete), but then it never gets handled correctly on the second PC when I sync with it. I can give a more specific example if anyone thinks it may help them figure out my problem.

I've gone as far as deleting all my recurring tasks from the handheld and both PC's and starting over again. They get created on the second PC when I sync, but they still don't get marked completed correctly and set up the new recurrence correctly on the second PC. I've seached Microsoft's website about this to no end.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Gary

I'm hoping someone on the board has a resolution.

I guess I'll try the Microsoft support page again. I looked their a few months ago and couldn't find anything.

Maybe I'll try submitting a bug report to them if I can figure out how/where to do it.

Regards,

Gary
