Can't see SD memory

I have a new Axim X3i (1st PPC so a complete novice!) & have added a 256MB SD (sandisk). The PPC doesn't appear to be "seeing" the additional memory card, so I can't save things to it.

Have tried start/settings/system/memory/storage card - the dropdown box only shows built-in-storage (i.e. no SD card).

at start/setings/system/about - the expansion slot is shown as not in use.

Have also tried doing a soft reset.

Have read on this site that there have been known problems with the sandisk sd cards. Is this one of them?

Or have I missed something completely obvious?

TIA

Axims and sandisk have a long history of troubles. I don't have an X3, so I don't know if the incompatibilities extend to those, but I have heard that they may. This is the sort of problem that sandisk and other (made in china) sd cards have had.

First thing before worrying about possible unknown problems with SanDisk cards is to try the card in another known good card reader. Then try a known good card in your Axim. The results should tell you what is going on. Make sure you know/find out how to "see" the card on your X3. YOu may just be looking in the wrong place in the menus.

Good luck
